Jens Mikkelsen was born in Jutland year 1621st, Jens begin a career in the Danish Army management. As a 25-year-old, he bursar of the Danish king.

Christian IV with the investment in Scania. He do a good job and when he is 36 years old will He offered to move to Norway to be Chief Judge. He chooses to stay in Skåne. He is now married and has two children. This happens year 1657th. But a year later, the Peace of Roskilde. Skane is Swedish. What will he choose?

Now there are no positions that are waiting in Denmark or Norway. He realizes that the Swedish administration will need people with his knowledge of Scania. He chooses to swear the King of allegiance and become Swedish. This was perfectly legal under the provisions of Roskilde peace. Otherwise, he had been forced to leave his post and move to Denmark.

He knows that many of his Skåne and Danish colleagues think he chose the wrong path. In the years working with Jens success in the Swedish government. When he has has become little more than 40 years he begins to discuss his future with the Swedish government. He has left financial assets in Denmark. How should he put them? He will then have the permission of the Swedish Government to buy goods from noble families.

It's that he gets noble freedoms. At this time did not get anyone to buy goods and land that belonged to noble families. But suddenly opens the This opportunity for Jens. He can buy Hovdala at Finjasjön from the four families for inheritance has divided the estate 10 years earlier. This happens in 1666. Jens career in Swedish management continues. In 1670 he becomes commissioner at the Tax plant in southern Sweden. Jens looks future good.

He now has four children. But four years later a new war breaks out between Sweden and Denmark. The Danes occupy large parts of Skåne. Battle of Lund takes place in 1676. A stroke where many soldiers from both sides killed. After the battle, pulling the Swedish army back. In northern Skåne raging now snapphanar. It is irregulars Supported by the Danish army. In 1678 attacks snapphanar Hovdala. Castle defended for 30 hours.

But snapphanarna goes over the moat and conquer, loot and burn bail. Port Tower, they can not conquer. Jens manage to escape in a boat across Finjasjön and escapes. Peace between Sweden and Denmark will be the year after. The Danes forced to pull out all its troops from Scania. Scania will be Swedish.

Jens returns to Hovdala and in 1682 the houses rebuilt. Now turn the castle into a palace. In the future, no to war fought around Hovdala. Jens will be knighted and takes the name Ehrenborgh. He försvenskar his name to Jons Michelson Ehrenborgh. He continues his work for the Swedish government. He dies in 1690 and is buried in Brönnestads church.
